Map 7: There are signed visitor moorings just north of Bridge 126, though no longer any canalside pubs. Fifty yards down the road towards the railway station is a shop dealing in recycled chimney pots and secondhand teapots! The Bluebell at Hardings Wood is temporarily closed.

Map 10: A Marks & Spencer Foodhall has opened just south of Bridge 93 in Stone. It’s open 8am-8pm Mon-Sat and 11am-5pm Sun.

Map 11: A new restaurant called No.26 (after the neighbouring lock) has opened at Aston Marina - Tel: 01785 819702.

Map 20: Aqua’s hire base has moved from Mercia Marina to Barton Marina on Map 17.

Map 22: The White House restaurant at Sawley is now a tapas bar called Esquina – same telephone number.

Map 28: Cooper’s Foodstore in Brewood has closed down, as has Lloyd’s bank.

Map 33: There is a water point just north of Bridge 55 at Goldstone Wharf.

Map 37: Pumpout facilities are available on the main line south of Bridge 92.

Map 38: There is no longer a water point at Barbridge.

Map 44: The services at Town Bridge now feature a self-pump out facility. Asda have opened their supermarket at Northwich Quay. Bratts department store has closed, though a cookshop of that name survives. The rubbish disposal facility at Northwich has been relocated to CRT’s maintenance yard. New moorings have been provided on the town centre side downstream of Town Bridge, though according to our correspondent are “a bit of a scramble to reach.”

Map 45: The Red Lion at Winsford Bridges has re-opened. There is a water point and visitor moorings to the left at the entry to The Flash.

Map 18: The Booksmith secondhand bookshop (Tel: 01327 227391) has opened up in one of the old Royal Ordnance Depot buildings. Chiefly selling secondhand fiction, it also does a nice line in coffee and cakes, whilst presenting a welcome opportunity to explore this fascinating relic of our military past more fully. A splendid heritage centre has also materialised on site: it’s open Wed-Sat 10am-4pm. Tel: 01327 341303.

Map 19A: EA licences are no longer available from Gayton Marina. If you’re travelling through to the Nene, they are obtainable at Northampton Marina.
